Receive Important Text Messages
from Snellville Middle

Snellville Middle School will be using SchoolMessenger notification service to send important information to families through phone calls, emails, and text messages.

To comply with wireless carrier requirements and protect against unsolicited text messages, you may receive an SMS message to the wireless cell phone number that our school has on file requesting that you opt in to receive important information from Snellville Middle School via SMS text message.

The message you receive will be similar to the following: "Snellville Middle School alerts. Reply Y for aprx 5 msgs/mo. Txt HELP 4 info. Msg&data rates may apply. Visit schoolmessenger.com/tm"

So that you can continue to receive these important messages from your Snellville Middle School, we encourage you to reply with "Y" or "Yes" or "OPTIN" when you receive such a verification message.

To opt out of all text messages from SchoolMessenger, visit http://www.schoolmessenger.com/txtmsg/or reply with STOP to the opt-in message that you receive. If you opt in, but decide to opt out later on, you may also reply "STOP" to any message or send "STOP" to 68453.

Snellville Middle School does not pay for text message charges that may be incurred by you for sending or receiving text messages. Check with your wireless carrier for possible charges.

Media Center Volunteers Needed

Would you like to be more involved in your child's school? Becoming a media center volunteer is a great way to make a positive impact!

We need volunteers to assist in shelving books and completing small projects. No experience necessary.

If you have any questions or are interested please e-mail Tiffanie Hitchcock at tiffanie_hitchcock@gwinnett.k12.ga.us

SMS Media Committee - Parents Wanted

We are in the process of assembling our 2015-2016 SMS Media Advisory Committee which plays an important role in the direction and content of our media collection. We would love for you to be a part of our team.

The purpose of our Media Advisory Committee is to review new materials (books, videos, etc.) before we purchase or add them to our collection. Your role would be to preview items - or lists of items that the media specialist compiles -  based on professional reviews. We also look at general media center policy/procedure changes.

What is involved?

The majority, if not all, of our correspondence will be accomplished through e-mail. Although rare, should we have an item in our collection that is brought to our attention by a teacher, administrator, parent or student we will re-evaluate this item and determine its value to our collection. This may involve a majority of the members reading or viewing the item and participating in a panel to discuss the item.

This is a wonderful way to be a part of SMS! If you have any questions or are interested please e-mail Tiffanie Hitchcock at tiffanie_hitchcock@gwinnett.k12.ga.us.

Weekly Calendar
Reminder about Deliveries to the Office

Please remember that, as stated in the Student Agenda, the front office does not accept items for delivery.  This includes PE clothes, athletic clothing/shoes, projects, cell phones, homework, instruments, books, cupcakes, balloons, flowers or any outside food.  This is part of our COMETS Be ready, Be responsible program and will help us limit the interruptions during academic time.

Stay Informed with the Parent Portal

If you are not already on the Parent Portal please stop by the office and sign up.   This awesome resource allows you to track your child's grades and attendance in real time from any computer.

Earbuds?    Yes Earbuds

We are encouraging all students to have an inexpensive set of earbuds to use while in the computer labs or with school owned or their own devices.   Students do not need an expensive set of earbuds or headphones at school.
