6th Grade and Connections Assistant Principal
Greetings Parents,

Thank you to all the parents/guardians that were able to make our student-led conferences. The students did an excellent job sharing their successes, areas of growth, and goals for the remainder of the year. The students truly benefit from this opportunity.

Next week we will start taking interim assessments. Please encourage your student to review as this assessment covers material from the beginning of the semester. The teachers use this assessment to determine areas each student needs to work on in addition to providing students feedback on their current progress. We will be taking the Milestone State Assessments after spring break, and this interim will help everyone understand what our students need to reach mastery. It is important that all of us work together for our students’ achievement, and you are a vital part of the team.
Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Mr. Reid Mullins visits Snellville Middle
Principal Katise Menchan,
Mr. Reid Mullins, and Ms. Carol Ann Chapman at Snellville
Middle School.
Snellville Middle School had the pleasure of hosting a very special visitor this week. Mr. Reid Mullins, the first middle school principal in Gwinnett County and the first principal of Snellville Middle School, visited our school campus on Wednesday. Mr. Mullins was the principal of Snellville Middle School from 1969 to 1989 and continues to be an advocate in education. Since 1996, students who attended Snellville Middle School and are graduating seniors from South Gwinnett High School are eligible to apply for the Reid Mullins Scholarship for higher education. Last year’s

recipient of the Reid Mullins Scholarship was South Gwinnett’s graduating senior Bethany Bogan who received a college scholarship for $1000.00.

PBIS Grade Level Challenge
See who’s winning! The grade level with the best overall score will win a celebration at the end of the semester.
Using a point system that encourages academic excellence and consistent adherence to our behavioral expectations, each grade level will strive to have the highest point total by the end of the semester. The scores will be tallied and displayed about every 4 weeks. With the September point totals so close, it is clear that any grade level has the opportunity to celebrate their great success in December! Starting now, the score will also include points for the grade level with the best attendance. We are encouraging our students to be present and performing in excellence throughout the day.
Check back next month to see who’s winning!
