Dear 7th grade Parents,

We have successfully completed week one of Milestones Testing. Students will continue next week with Science and Social Studies.

Continue checking your child’s progress and communicating with the teachers to make sure your child is on track for promotion to 8th grade.  To be promoted students must pass all sections of the Milestones Tests, but if they do not, there is an appeals process that is available if they do well in their classes. Therefore, students need to work hard through the end of the semester to be sure their grades can serve as a safety net for them if their Milestones scores are not what they need to be.

Also, we use a Minor Infraction Database to keep track of minor infractions that receive teacher consequences such as silent lunch, detention, off team placement, etc. When students receive their 5th infraction in one semester, they receive a referral (with the consequence generally being 2 days of ISS). If you would like to know which step your student is on, feel free to e-mail his/her home room teacher for that information.
