“Distinguished” Breakout Middle Schools Award

Each year the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals (GASSP)  selects schools in the state of Georgia that are considered Breakout Schools.  This year, Snellville Middle is one of six middle schools in the state of Georgia selected as a Breakout School and one of three recognized as  “distinguished”.  The Breakout Schools Award is designed to identify, recognize, and showcase Georgia middle schools that are high achieving or dramatically improving student achievement.   The distinguished status indicates that our work is recognized as going over and beyond to ensure our students are improving in academic achievement.   The GASSP focuses on three core areas in their selection process : 1) Collaborative leadership: professional learning communities, shared leadership, and student and staff leadership development;  2) Personalization: attention to all students, mentoring, and school/community connections and 3) Curriculum, instruction, and Assessment: access to rigorous coursework for all students, differentiated instruction with multiple assessments, data-based decision making, and opportunities for career development. We are honored to be recognized by GASSP for the outstanding teaching and learning that takes place each day in our school!
