Congratulations SMS Lady Comets Eastern Division Champions!

​

Have you caught the fever? Yes, it’s Comets fever! We are headed to the county championship! We need ALL of our Snellville Middle parents, students and faculty to come out and support our team! The game will be a white out!  Please wear white t-shirts or white Comets spirit wear!  We will be competing against North Gwinnett Middle for the championship this Thursday, February 23rd at 5:30 p.m. at South Gwinnett High.  We want North to know that they are in SOUTH territory!  Please come out and support our undefeated girls’ basketball team and spirited cheerleaders!

Congratulations to our orchestra students and director, Ms. Donnaud on receiving superior performance ratings at the Large Group Performance Evaluations this past weekend!

 

Academic Reminders

​

Congratulations to all of our parents whose child(ren) received recognition for their first semester academic accomplishments at January’s academic awards program.  Please continue to work as a team with your child and his/her teachers to make the 2nd semester a success.

​

Here are a few key reminders as we move into second semester:

 

• School wide Help Days:  Tuesday – Language Arts & Social Studies, Wednesday – Math & Science, Thursday – Connections.  Help Day begins at 8:15 a.m.

• Check the parent portal weekly.

• Check your child’s My eClass page.

• Please discuss with your child the importance of being a leader at SMS and keeping their hands, objects and unkind words to themselves each day.

• Early release conferences are this Wednesday, February 22nd and Thursday, February 23rd. Snellville Middle School utilizes the student-led conference format for our students. Research shows that schools whose students participate in student-led conferences begin to show academic improvement as students assume personal responsibility and become actively involved in their academic success.

• Know your child’s promotion criteria

• Students who were recommended for the Academic Assistance Program(AAP) to meet promotion have been notified and have already completed the first weeks of AAP for grade recovery.  If you believe your child did not meet the promotion criteria from first semester and is not in AAP, please contact Ms. Butler in the counseling department.

 

Parents, we are doing marvelous things for our students at Snellville Middle! We will continue to challenge our students to become independent thinkers and life-long learners.

 

 

Annual Black History Program

​

Select students and teachers will host a Black History Program during the school day on Friday, February, 24th showcasing art, music, poetry and dance to celebrate black history and its influence in America.

 

School Climate Star Rating

Snellville Middle School received the 2nd highest state star rating this past year because of your support and participation in last year’s state survey. Parents, please take a few minutes to complete the state’s parent survey for this school year.  There are several different surveys that are requested of parents throughout the year.
