Greetings Parents,

Thank you to all the parents/guardians that were able to make our student-led conferences. The students did an excellent job sharing their successes, areas of growth, and goals for the remainder of the year. The students truly benefit from this opportunity.

Next week we will start taking interim assessments. Please encourage your student to review as this assessment covers material from the beginning of the semester. The teachers use this assessment to determine areas each student needs to work on in addition to providing students feedback on their current progress. We will be taking the Milestone State Assessments after spring break, and this interim will help everyone understand what our students need to reach mastery. It is important that all of us work together for our students’ achievement, and you are a vital part of the team.
Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Curriculum & Instruction, & Connections

Parents,
It has been an exciting time for Band and Orchestra with their LGPE performance. Orchestra received an overall Superior rating, and Band received ALL Superior ratings on their performance. We are still waiting to hear the results from the sight reading portion for the band students. Kudos to Ms. Donnaud and Mr. Turner and their students for representing Snellville Middle with such excellence. Chorus performs 3/16, and we are confident that they will continue with a superior performance.
The state End of Grade Milestones are just around the corner. Teachers will begin reviewing information from first semester. Take this time to ask your students what they are doing in class to review. Many teachers are providing resources on eCLASS and other sites such as usatestprep.com. This is something your student can continue to work on at home or at the library. If your student doesn't have assigned homework, he/she should be spending 5-10 minutes reviewing material for each class. With everything else going on in an adolescent's brain, this short amount of time allows them to process what they did in class and bring clarity to the lesson. Thank you for supporting the continued learning outside of class.
