6th Grade and Connections Assistant Principal
Greetings Parents,

Thank you to all the parents/guardians that were able to make our student-led conferences. The students did an excellent job sharing their successes, areas of growth, and goals for the remainder of the year. The students truly benefit from this opportunity.

Next week we will start taking interim assessments. Please encourage your student to review as this assessment covers material from the beginning of the semester. The teachers use this assessment to determine areas each student needs to work on in addition to providing students feedback on their current progress. We will be taking the Milestone State Assessments after spring break, and this interim will help everyone understand what our students need to reach mastery. It is important that all of us work together for our students’ achievement, and you are a vital part of the team.
Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

The Principal’s Update: April

The Spring came suddenly,
Bursting upon the world as
A child bursts into a room,
With a laugh and a shout
And hands full of flowers.

We begin testing for Georgia Milestones the week of April 9th, this is the same week that we return from Spring Break. It is very important that students do not miss any days of testing. Testing will begin each day at 9:30 a.m. and will end around 12:00 p.m. Students cannot be checked out while testing is in session.

We know our teachers have been preparing our students all year and the students have been working hard! They have the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful on the GMAS and/or EOCT. We want every student to be focused! Be sure that your child is test ready during this time by powering down technology earlier the night before, getting plenty of rest, and eating a good breakfast the day of testing.
Congratulations to our 7th and 8th grade Band students who participated in the Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) and earned Superior ratings, which is the highest you can score. Way to go students! Way to go Mr. Turner!
The last quarter of school marks a very busy time for everyone. Be sure to log on to the parent portal weekly to check grades and your child’s academic progress
Lastly, have a safe and restful spring break: April 2nd – April 6th! If you are traveling, please do so safely.
Sincerely,
