The Principal’s Update: September Edition

Congratulations, Ms. Jackie Thompson! Our 2019 Teacher of the Year! We are thrilled to have such an amazing teacher in Ms. Thompson!

8th Grade Announcements

8th Grade Administrator

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Twanitta Martin to 8th grade. Dr. Martin, who supports Testing and Special Education, will also serve as our 8th grade administrator.  Ms. Corine Warren, our previous 8th grade administrator, accepted a new position in her hometown in North Carolina. We will miss Ms. Warren and wish her the best of luck! Please direct any 8th grade questions or concerns to Dr. Martin.

Our 8th grade students are preparing for CogAT testing which takes place beginning Wednesday, September 12th – Friday, September 14th. Please be sure that your 8th grader is present at school during testing days and times.  There is no preparation required for the CogAT but we do ask that our 8th graders eat a good breakfast, power down electronics late at night, get a good night’s rest, and be ready to do their very best.

SGHS Football

We are a very supportive Comets community and encourage our students and parents to attend home football games at South Gwinnett High. Parents, please remind your middle school son or daughter that if he/she attends a football game at South that appropriate behavior is expected.  High school football games are school sponsored events and inappropriate behavior could result in a school consequence when he/she returns to school.  We expect our middle school students to be responsible and demonstrate Comets Pride in the school community.

Thank you for all that you do to support Snellville Middle School.  Feel free to follow us on Twitter @SnellvilleMS and be a part of all the latest news and excitement!
