Lesley Grimes
6th Grade and Connections Assistant Principal
Greetings Parents,

Thank you to all the parents/guardians that were able to make our student-led conferences. The students did an excellent job sharing their successes, areas of growth, and goals for the remainder of the year. The students truly benefit from this opportunity.

Next week we will start taking interim assessments. Please encourage your student to review as this assessment covers material from the beginning of the semester. The teachers use this assessment to determine areas each student needs to work on in addition to providing students feedback on their current progress. We will be taking the Milestone State Assessments after spring break, and this interim will help everyone understand what our students need to reach mastery. It is important that all of us work together for our students’ achievement, and you are a vital part of the team.
Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

"Left, Right, Left", these were the sounds of the JLC Drill teams as they marched in the first Drill Meet of the 2018-2019 season. Lead by the competent and experienced marcher, Cadet SGM Ava Sellers, the Color Guard took first place in the Color Guard Competition. Snellville Placed 1st in the Drill Team Competition as Cadet SGT Campbell led the team through the complicated three squad movements that defined a superb team of marchers. With two first places in Color Guard and Drill Team the Snellville Drill Team took a second place in the Drill Squad under the highly competent leadership of Cadet MSG Mamo and a third place in Inspection Squad with Cadet SGT Kouassi leading and preparing the team for questions and uniform inspection. Finally, all the Cadets did a superb job of leading the Drill Unit to a third place in the Exhibition competition, moving through many complicated movements with confidence. Hooha!!!

GEORGIA STUDENT HEALTH SURVEY

The Georgia Student Health Survey 2.0 is an anonymous, statewide survey instrument that identifies school climate issues that impact student achievement. In order to provide a safe and supportive learning environment for your child, the Georgia Department of Education collects survey information from students during the school year. The survey takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and covers various topics such as school climate and safety, alcohol and drug use and mental health. All student survey data is anonymous and self-reported.
The Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) gives you the right to opt your child out of participating in the survey. If you do not wish for your child to participate in the Georgia Student Health Survey 2.0, please print and sign this PASSIVE PARENTAL PERMISSION FORM and return it to your child’s A Connections teacher by Monday, February 4th. Click here if you would like to examine the survey.
