6th Grade and Connections Assistant Principal
Greetings Parents,

Thank you to all the parents/guardians that were able to make our student-led conferences. The students did an excellent job sharing their successes, areas of growth, and goals for the remainder of the year. The students truly benefit from this opportunity.

Next week we will start taking interim assessments. Please encourage your student to review as this assessment covers material from the beginning of the semester. The teachers use this assessment to determine areas each student needs to work on in addition to providing students feedback on their current progress. We will be taking the Milestone State Assessments after spring break, and this interim will help everyone understand what our students need to reach mastery. It is important that all of us work together for our students’ achievement, and you are a vital part of the team.
Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

6th Grade Parents,

Welcome to SMS! We are excited about this year and partnering with you for your student’s success. The students started their new Connections schedule on Tuesday, August 13th. Students will have 2 Connections classes in the fall and 2 in the spring. Other than Band, Orchestra and Chorus, the classes are randomly selected. The students were able to hear about the classes and ways to get involved at the school in a pep rally on Monday.
Curriculum Night is Tuesday, August 20th. Join us in the gym to meet the Connections teachers at 6:00. At 6:30, parents/guardians will go to the homeroom teacher’s class to meet with the remaining content teachers. It is important to us to keep you informed about your child’s education. Be sure to contact your child’s teacher if you are unable to attend. There are many resources on the eCLASS course pages. Each day the students should spend 20 minutes reading as well as time practicing their math skills. Regular practice will lead to great gains this year.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. This is going to be a wonderful year at Snellville Middle.

Welcome Back!
Teachers have been working diligently to ensure a fantastic school opening. Our students have engaged in homeroom activities about what it means to be Respectful, Responsible and Ready. Students have also taken the District Assessment Pre-Test which will be used to help teachers develop engaging, purposeful, and rigorous lessons. It has been a busy two weeks!
There is great energy throughout the seventh grade! Our students have a clear understanding that they are the reason we are here. It is important that they know we care about their success. Parents, we value your opinion and look forward to your support during the 2019-2020 school year.
Thank you for joining us for Open House and I look forward to seeing you at Curriculum Night.
Snellville Middle School Comets have returned…… Respectful, Responsible and Ready to learn!
Regards,
