6th Grade and Connections Assistant Principal
Greetings Parents,

Thank you to all the parents/guardians that were able to make our student-led conferences. The students did an excellent job sharing their successes, areas of growth, and goals for the remainder of the year. The students truly benefit from this opportunity.

Next week we will start taking interim assessments. Please encourage your student to review as this assessment covers material from the beginning of the semester. The teachers use this assessment to determine areas each student needs to work on in addition to providing students feedback on their current progress. We will be taking the Milestone State Assessments after spring break, and this interim will help everyone understand what our students need to reach mastery. It is important that all of us work together for our students’ achievement, and you are a vital part of the team.
Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Summer Edition
Wishing You a Safe and Healthy Summer

Hello, Snellville Middle Comets. Let me begin by saying that we are thinking of you. We miss you dearly. The world is experiencing a situation unique to all of us. Your teachers are experiencing this for the first time along with you. While taking responsibility for the community by social distancing, it has been reinforced just how important social contact is. Your teachers have worked hard to continue your education throughout this ordeal in order for you to be prepared for next year. Since our time together ended so abruptly, the teachers wanted to tell you themselves that they miss you and wish you the best in the future. We’re looking forward to the coming year with you, and if you are moving on to high school, just remember, always be proud to be a Comet. Stay safe!
Each day will bring you something new
Of that there is no doubt
And when you’re stuck or can’t get through
A teacher helps you out
No matter what is thrown at you
How high the bar is set
A teacher you can always trust
To get the challenge met
In rows or working stations
Our goals we will attack
Order of operations
And Gregor Mendel facts
Whether following a plot line
Or looking in a frog
Events in Poland ‘39
Or keep a reading log
To read and hold a certain tune
Or fold the Stars and Stripes
Just be assured that in the room
A teacher makes it right
Whether facing a computer
Or sitting in a desk
As a virtual commuter
Or with a written test
If stuck out in the desert sand
Or on a ship at sea
A teacher will extend a hand
To find some help for me
Or maybe just to handle things
To help it all make sense
Lift me against a word that stings
And give me confidence
It doesn’t matter how we learn
By sound or touch or sight
To teachers you can always turn
To make the lessons right
It is great to have a teacher
To show me something new
It is great to be a teacher
So I can help you through
